This Privacy Policy applies to all information collected through our mobile application, "Slow Weather," and any related services, sales, marketing, or events (we refer to them collectively in this Privacy Policy as the "Services").

1. What Information Do We Collect?

Location Data
To provide you with accurate, hyperlocal weather forecasts, severe weather alerts, and localized widgets, our application requests access to your device's location data (GPS coordinates).

Foreground Location: We access your location while you are actively using the app to load weather data for your current area.
Background Location: We may request background location access to update home screen widgets and send you push notifications for severe weather alerts even when the app is closed. You can manage these permissions at any time in your device settings.

Local Device Storage
We use local storage on your device to save your app preferences (e.g., preferred unit of measurement, saved cities, widget settings). This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to external servers.

Personal Identification Information
We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal identification information (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use the Slow Weather app.

2. How Do We Use Your Information?

We use the information we collect or receive:

To provide weather forecasts: Your location coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent to our third-party weather data providers to retrieve the most accurate weather, climate, and environmental data for your area.
To deliver localized alerts: To notify you of severe weather warnings and daily forecasts based on your location.
To update home screen widgets: To ensure your widgets reflect current conditions reliably.

3. Will Your Information Be Shared With Anyone?

We only share information with the following third-party service providers to perform the core functions of the app:

Weather Data Providers: We send anonymized location coordinates (latitude/longitude) to trusted meteorological providers such as Open-Meteo, NASA Power, and ECMWF (Copernicus) to fetch weather forecasts.
Geocoding Services: We use services like Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) to translate your coordinates into a readable city name.
News Providers: We securely query Google News RSS feeds to fetch localized weather news.

These third-party providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or location data to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Do We Collect Information From Minors?

We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 13 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 13 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent’s use of the Services.

5. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We only keep your information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Because we do not require user accounts, your location data is processed in real-time to fetch weather and is not permanently stored by us.

We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
